01

Confirm you are buying the right kind of product

A React Native and Expo template provides app source code and screens that run on iOS and Android. It is different from a Next.js marketing website for an app. Check the product's platform, included screens and runtime requirements before comparing designs. If you need both an app and a public launch site, plan for both deliverables rather than assuming one template includes the other.

02

Walk through the important state changes

Inspect more than static screenshots. For a budget app, follow how a transaction changes a balance; for a workout log, record a set and review the history; for a restaurant order app, change a dish option and inspect the total. Ask where the data lives and whether it survives a restart. A local demo can make these flows testable, but local data is not a shared account or a live business backend.

03

List the services your launch still needs

Write a separate checklist for sign-in, server data, payments, notifications, email, location services and administration. Mark each as included, demonstrated with local data or absent. If your app handles personal or payment information, include privacy, security and operational review in the launch plan. Do not infer that a screen labelled checkout processes real money: verify the provider and transaction path explicitly.

04

Check device and release requirements

Run the app on the device sizes and operating-system versions your audience uses. Test text scaling, keyboard access where relevant, network loss, permissions and empty states. Read the setup guide for the required Node.js, Expo and package versions. Producing App Store and Google Play releases involves developer accounts, store assets, policy review and signing steps beyond buying source code.

05

Compare total effort, not only screen count

A useful template exposes design tokens, navigation, data models and places to connect real services. Estimate the work to rebrand, replace demo data, implement integrations and maintain the app after launch. Then read the license and support terms. The best fit is the template whose demonstrated workflow matches the product you intend to ship and whose remaining work is clear.
